Food
is a combination of substances that is taken into the body nourishment and
healthy living. However different types of food different people at different
type is taken but the purpose is same to acquire energy for survival.
The
food which is eaten by most of human beings is called staple food. Chapattis,
rice, dosa, bread, pulses, spinach etc are staple food. People living in
different food. Even seasonal variations are also seen.
Food
is the fuel of body that plays vital role in the survival of living beings.
Some of its function and importance are mentioned below: -
*Energy
for activities - Food gives us energy that helps to perform various activities
compulsory for survival.
*Nourishment
and growth - Ingredients of food provide vital nutrients responsible for growth
and nourishment of human body.
*Repair
and maintenance - Protein the nutrient present in food like fish, eggs etc
plays vital role in the repair and maintenance of cells and tissues in order to
make body system work properly.
*Protection
from diseases - Food provides nutrients that protects human body from diseases.
